CHAPTER 18

World stopped, everything else ceased to exist, every cell of their body stilled, the room started revolving, their heart stopped as their gaze met. They had planned many things but not this feeling that washed over them as they saw each other after two and half years

Khushi broke the spell clearing her throat and diverted her eyes. Her eyes went to his desk, then to his laptop then to the pen stand but she avoided eye contact with him

Arnav pursed his lips to control the urge to run and hug her because he knew Khushi was mentally not ready, so he thought of starting a normal conversation but before he could've say anything Khushi spoke

"Hello Mr. Raizada or you prefer sir" she said in a cold voice

Arnav was taken aback, he stared at her, how mature she looked and sounded, how more beautiful she had grown, how good actor she was.

Arnav knew the girl that stood before him loves him insanely; he knew she was pushing him back to punish him. He sighed, he promised himself not to bother her for now so he simply handed her the appointment letter

"Have a seat Miss Gupta" he said and she nodded

She went through the letter and looked up at him

"Done Mr. Raizada, from when I can start" Khushi asked twirling the paper weight on the table

"From now" his voice was soft

"And where is my cabin" she asked but he didn't answer and kept looking at her so she again tried "Mr. Raizada I asked about my cabin" but still he kept mum, sighing Khushi stood up and decided to talk to Aman. She took her purse and eyed her picture that was kept on the table, glancing at Arnav once she started leaving when he stopped her

"Khushi” he called out and she turned

"Its Miss Gupta Sir” she replied sternly but her heart softened when she saw the hurt look on his face

"Okay then Miss Gupta, you will not have any separate office you will have to work here, in front of me, in my cabin" he said as he stood up and paced towards her

 "And now as you work for me, you have to keep your attitude in check, I am your boss"

"Thanks for reminding sir, but this is not my attitude this is my confidence, because there was someone who wanted me to face the world... bravely, so here I am... looking all brave" she replied smugly as she stepped closer to him

He gazed at her and after sometime he sighed closing his eyes "I missed you love" he said thinking that she would soften too but the reply he got left him fuming

"Really, well that is surprising" hearing her mocking tone his hands flew to her nape and pulled her closer, she tried to retain her balance by grasping his jacket but he pulled her more towards him, sandwiching her hand between their bodies

"Then let me show you how much I have missed you baby" he said huskily

Without delaying Arnav pressed his lips on her, he was waiting for this since long, he closed his eyes as he took in her taste, he opened his eyes to peek at her face, her eyes were closed and she was at peace, they both were at peace

Khushi stood still allowing herself a little to feel him, to taste him, to absorb the heat from his body to warm her cold and alone heart of two and half years

“I won’t cry” she kept repeating in her mind

They relished the way their lips moved on each other, he parted her lips and entered her mouth; Khushi stood still not reciprocating the kiss but enjoying the feel of his lips and taste

“I won’t kiss him back, I have to show him what I went through” she decided firmly but her resolution was weakening with the increasing intensity of his kiss as he was coaxing her to give in and respond

Unable to keep up anymore Khushi pushed him, he didn’t stumble back as he was strong enough to hold on to her but he did let her go and stepped back, he knew it was more than enough for her

“My job description doesn’t include kissing and bedding my boss, or you are used to bed your every secretary” as she spoke the words she regretted immediately, she knew he would never see or touch anyone other than her, but to prove her point she did go beyond the limit

“I am so sorry love” she mentally apologized as she saw him turn away to hide his pain

“I know what I did and I will make sure that you understand me” he turned and pecked her lips and left his cabin leaving a sad Khushi behind

She didn’t see much of Arnav that day, she tried to go to him, but as it was her first day she was forced to stay with Aman who was busy dictating her about ASR’s work and schedule. Khushi spent her rest of the day in meeting and greeting with other employees, she checked few files and made notes that she had to submit to her boss.

She wasn’t allocated a separate cabin so she was working in ASR’s cabin folding her legs on sofa   

“Homely feeling” she said sarcastically

She had to plan to make Arnav spend more time with her, so that she could avoid him and she could instigate him faster to make him confess

Arnav entered the cabin and saw Khushi packing her bags, he checked his watch and saw it was time for them to leave, he wanted to offer her a ride back home, but he knew she would turn it down

“I have arranged a cab that will pick you up for work and will drop you back home regularly” he said as he packed his stuff

“Sir, you are my boss not my guardian, you don’t have to worry about me, I am responsible enough to take care of me” Khushi replied and went to open the door

“It is from company not me Miss Gupta, and you have no other choice then to accept, your safety is company’s responsibility” he said firmly

Khushi turned a little and answered “Well I refuse” and went out

Arnav was engulfed by rage; if their first day together was this disaster how they were gonna work together. He couldn’t leave her alone to go back to her new home at this time and if that means he had to force her.... then he would.

 He saw her shouting for a taxi; he took long strides to reach her, she saw him coming and rejoiced but again put her facade on

“What are you...” she was not able to complete her sentence as Arnav started dragging her towards his car.

He ignored her shouting and cursing and pushed her inside the car

“You can’t do this, you have no right” she shouted

“Shut up” he shouted back

“No I will not, how you dare drag me” she punched his arm

“Don’t disturb me girl I am driving, are you blind” he gritted his teeth

“Leave me” she demanded

“Never” he whispered

She widened her eyes as he stopped the car in front of their old apartment

“Why did you bring me here” she asked nervously

He was silently looking at her, he opened her belt first then his, he moved towards her as she moved back on her seat as much as possible

“Time for some serious conversations Miss Gupta”
